Meghan Markle has shared a never-before-seen photo of son Prince Archie as he marks his seventh birthday today.
The adorable snap posted on Instagram by the Duchess of Sussex shows tiny Archie lying on his dad, Prince Harry’s chest, seemingly hours after being born. Another, more recent picture, shows Archie and seemingly his sister, Princess Lilibet, at the seaside.
Meghan wrote: “7 years later…happy birthday to our sweet boy.” She ended the brief post with a heart emoji, and the update has since been liked by hundreds of fans.

Archie is Harry and Meghan’s oldest child and is sixth in line to the throne. He was born on May 6, 2019 at the private Portland Hospital in London, weighing 7lb 3oz. He was christened Archie Harrison at a private chapel in Windsor several months later, with his middle name honouring his father, Harry.
The youngster, who appears to have red hair like his father, was just 10 months old, when he and his parents quit life in the UK to move to California, where he is now growing up alongside younger sister, Princess Lilibet.
He has only returned to the UK once when he, his parents and his sister travelled back for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations back in June 2022.
It marked the last time he saw his grandfather, Harry’s dad, the King. Harry and Meghan are known to have a strained relationship with their royal relatives, especially after railing against them in their Netflix series and in Harry’s controversial memoir, Spare.

However, it wasn’t always such a fraught relationship – especially with Archie – with the King saying he “couldn’t be more delighted” when he was born in May 2019. When he was christened, the King’s former Clarence House Instagram account shared a touching photo of Charles proudly gazing at Archie.
According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, Archie’s birthday highlights the estrangement between the King and his youngest son. “I think King Charles is full of regrets over the whole situation, he definitely wouldn’t have wanted it to go this way,” he tells the Mirror. “He has spoken about how much he enjoys being a grandparent.”
Last year, Archie’s sixth birthday was marked my mum Meghan on Instagram, who wrote “our sweet boy” adding: “He’s six! Where did the time go?”
She shared a photograph on her Instagram of her eldest child, who was pictured from behind as he stood watching a vibrant orange sunset. She captioned it “Our son. Our sun”, adding: “Happy 6th birthday to Archie.

“Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?” Meghan thanked friends who celebrated at a recent party, writing: “And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special” – followed by a red heart emoji.
The prince has made a number of appearances on Meghan’s Instagram feed since the duchess launched her As Ever business last year, however, the Duchess has been careful to hide his face.
