Former royal press secretary Dickie Arbiter has claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage has “always looked a bit dodgy for quite a long time,” suggesting the Duke of Sussex has lost his way since leaving the Royal Family.

Arbiter, who served as press spokesman for Queen Elizabeth II from 1988 until 1999, made the remarks during an appearance on Talk TV’s Jeremy Kyle show, where the pair discussed what Kyle described as “internal strain” in the Sussexes’ relationship.

The comments arrive ahead of the couple’s eighth wedding anniversary on 19 May. Despite persistent outside speculation about the health of their relationship, Harry and Meghan have consistently declined to address the rumours and maintain a publicly supportive partnership.

What did Dickie Arbiter say about Prince Harry?

Arbiter told Kyle that beyond being a husband and father, Harry appeared to have narrowed his public identity considerably: “He hasn’t really achieved anything”, as reported on realitytea.com.

Pointing to the Invictus Games as Harry’s main public endeavour, Arbiter added: “Yes, he has got his Invictus Games, but he is nothing else. That doesn’t happen very often; that’s every two years.”

The former royal spokesman said Harry’s situation appeared stagnant and that he seemed uncertain about his direction in life.

He argued that leaving the British Army in 2016 had been “the biggest mistake he ever made,” suggesting Harry could have risen to higher ranks and achieved more had he remained in service.

What did Dickie Arbiter say about Harry and Meghan’s marriage?

Turning to the marriage itself, Arbiter delivered his sharpest verdict, claiming Harry had “got married to someone who has pulled him right down into nothing.”

Kyle sided with Arbiter throughout, going further to predict that Harry’s return to the UK was imminent – a conclusion Arbiter was happy to share.
