Bonnie Tyler is understood to have been placed in an “induced coma” as her health condition reportedly worsened after being hospitalised on Wednesday.
The Welsh singer underwent emergency bowel surgery in Portugal after being rushed to hospital while in the Algarve last month.
The singer, who maintains a residence in the Algarve region, had initially appeared to be recovering well from the procedure.
It’s understood the singer experienced severe abdominal pain in recent days before being taken to hospital for the urgent procedure.

However, local media are now reporting her condition became worse in the last few hours.
Portuguese news outlet Correio da Manha reported the singer had been moved to an intensive care ward.
According to The Sun, it reads: “Bonnie Tyler is in an induced coma after several days at Faro Hospital following intestinal surgery.”
Her representatives confirmed earlier this week that she had been admitted for emergency intestinal surgery, stating at the time that the operation had been successful.

Ms Tyler’s dash to Faro Hospital on April 30 was due to a perforated intestine, a serious condition requiring immediate surgical intervention.
A statement released on her official website on Wednesday indicated that the procedure had gone smoothly and that she was in recovery.
“The surgery went well, and she is now recuperating,” the statement read. “We know that all of her family, friends, and fans will be concerned about this news and will be wishing her well for a full and swift recovery.”
However, according to Correio da Manha, the singer’s health has taken a significant turn for the worse within the past few hours.

Having previously been in a stable condition, she now requires mechanical ventilation and remains unconscious in intensive care.
Ms Tyler’s career spans five decades, with her breakthrough arriving through early hits such as Lost in France and It’s a Heartache.
She achieved global superstardom in 1983 with Total Eclipse of the Heart, a song that continues to enjoy renewed popularity during celestial events.
The Welsh performer made history as the first British female artist to debut at number one on the UK Albums Chart, whilst also becoming the only Welsh artist to top the UK Singles Chart.

She represented Britain at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, finishing nineteenth with ‘Believe in Me.’
Throughout her career, Ms Tyler has released 18 studio albums, with her most recent, The Best is Yet to Come, arriving in 2021.
She has been married to property developer Robert Sullivan since 1973.
Speaking in 2024, Tyler told Good Morning America that she remained enthusiastic about her signature track. “Every time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world, they play ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and I never get tired of singing it,” she said.
The singer had shown no intention of stepping back from performing. “I’m quite fit for my age, thank God. And I’m never going to retire. I look at Tom Jones. He’s amazing,” she remarked in a recent interview.
Her scheduled appearances, including a performance at Malta’s SummerLUST Music Festival on 22 May and further dates across Germany, Hungary, Czechia, Scotland and Turkey, now hang in the balance.
Fans across the globe have been expressing their hopes for her recovery.
