Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have a sweet new documentary to their name. Through their production company, Archewell Productions—which was founded in 2020 to bring “thought-provoking and diverse narratives” to global audiences—the royal couple has signed on to executive produce a story about one of America’s most festive traditions: the selling of Girl Scout cookies.
Announced ahead of its 2026 Sundance premiere, Cookie Queens was directed by Alysa Nahmias as a behind-the-scenes look at the sweet activity, in which young girls go door-to-door, setting up tables outside of grocery stores, and finding unique ways to sell as many boxes of Thin Mints and Samoas as possible. Now, we have a first look at the documentary, which arrives in theaters on August 7.

Pegged as a story of “adventure, friendship, and growing up,” the documentary centers around four young girls—Nikki, Olive, Shannon Elizabeth, and Ara—as they aim to sell as many cookies as possible, with the help of their families and loved ones.
This story is one that particularly hit close to home for Meghan, who embraced the challenge herself many years ago.
“As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary,” the duchess shared in a statement. “When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in.”
“The creative point of view, the edgy yet humanizing tone and tenor of the directing, and the glimpse behind-the-scenes into such a nostalgic and also modern tradition of Girl Scout cookie season are absolutely irresistible,” she continued.
Cookie Queens has its premiere at Sundance’s family matinee section this past January, which Harry and Meghan supported by making their first-ever appearance at the festival. At the 2026 South by Southwest Film and TV Festival, it was awarded the Festival Favorite Audience Award.
In addition to Archewell Productions, Beautiful Stories and AJNA Films executive produced the project, with Nahmias, Michael Dweck, Gregory Kershaw, and Jennifer Sims serving as producers.
