The Prince and Princess of Wales have been spotted at Oundle School in Northamptonshire as they weigh up options for Prince George’s secondary education this autumn. Prince William and Princess Kate were seen walking along the town’s High Street on Friday following a visit to the historic co-educational boarding school, which has been one of their favoured choices for some time.
Prince George, who turns 12 this year, currently attends Lambrook School in Berkshire with his younger siblings, but his parents are now considering senior schools including Oundle, Eton and Marlborough College. Founded in 1556, Oundle is the third-largest boarding school in England, charging up to £45,000 a year for full boarders.
A local source told The Sun the visit caused excitement in the town, with residents hoping George will join in September and noting that the school could accommodate all three Wales children. William was later in attendance at Villa Park to watch Aston Villa beat Nottingham Forest 4-0.
The couple have also previously viewed Highgate School in north London, as they balance factors such as distance from their Windsor home, tradition and the children’s interests in sport, arts and outdoor activities.
