Eva Longoria and José “Pepe” Bastón’s relationship has been going strong for over a decade.
The Desperate Housewives alum met the media mogul in 2013, and they had a memorable first date that lasted four hours.
“It was like the cliché angels singing and there was a glow around him and it was immediate chemistry,” she recalled to PEOPLE in 2017, describing her partner as “charismatic, charming, sweet and funny.”
The couple got married in May 2016 and welcomed their son, Santiago Enrique Bastón, two years later. They live in Spain and Mexico, and also spend some time in Los Angeles.
Although Bastón tends to stay out of the spotlight, he’s joined Longoria at several red carpet events. Longoria also shares occasional glimpses into their romance during interviews and in social media posts.

Bastón is a businessman and television executive

Bastón is a media mogul and entrepreneur. In 2018, he founded Elefantec Global, an independent film and TV studio serving Latino audiences.
He was previously the president of Televisa, the largest media company in Latin America.
According to Elefantec Global’s website, Bastón’s career spans more than three decades in the Spanish-language content industry.
They were introduced by a mutual friend

When Longoria and Bastón first met though a mutual friend in 2013, it wasn’t love at first sight.
“I was getting out of a bad relationship, and he was getting out of a relationship, so there wasn’t a connection,” the actress explained to PEOPLE in 2017. “So, we had a pleasant conversation but there was no real connection.”
But when they met again six months later, sparks flew, and they enjoyed a long lunch date the next day. “He was the most handsome man I’d ever seen,” Longoria said.
Bastón proposed to Longoria in Dubai

After two years of dating, Bastón popped the question in a desert in Dubai.
Longoria shared the news in a December 2015 Instagram post, sharing a photo of the couple kissing, with her ruby and diamond engagement ring clearly visible. “Ummmm so this happened….#Engaged #Dubai #Happiness,” she captioned the post.
Following the engagement, Longoria told PEOPLE that she’d be open to eloping. “Free of guests and guest lists and things like that!” she joked.
They got married in Mexico

Longoria and Bastón had an intimate wedding in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, on May 21, 2016.
According to Elle, the ceremony took place on Lake Avándaro, where they exchanged vows in front of a white cross before celebrating with a meal prepared by Mexican chefs and a night of music and dancing.
Their first dance was to “Volví a Nacer” by Colombian singer Carlos Viver. Several famous guests attended, including Ricky Martin, Mario Lopez, Melanie Griffith and Victoria and David Beckham.
Six months after the wedding, Longoria gave PEOPLE an update on their romance. “People ask us how it is being married now, but we were always married in our hearts and our souls, so the wedding was just a beautiful party to celebrate with everyone,” she said.
The actress shared that she was “still floating” and noted that getting married didn’t change their relationship.
Longoria and Bastón welcomed a son in 2018

Four months later, Longoria shared photos of her baby boy on Instagram. “From the moment he was placed in my arms, I knew no love like this before,” she wrote in her caption, calling him a “miracle.”
In April 2023, Longoria shared a rare family photo in an Instagram birthday tribute for her husband. She posted a snap of a smiling Santiago sandwiched between her and Bastón, writing, “Happy birthday to the best dad, family man and husband anyone could ask for!”
The actress is also a stepmom to Bastón’s three children from his first marriage: Natalia, Mariana and Jose Antonio.
They split their time between Spain, Mexico and Los Angeles

In November 2024, Longoria revealed that she and Bastón had put down roots in Spain and Mexico.
During an April 2026 chat with PEOPLE, she noted that the biggest change has been “slowing down,” adding, “They really enjoy life in Spain. They love a long meal. You’re never in a rush.”
The family spent more time in L.A. while Longoria was working on The Fifth Wheel, her second film as a director.
Longoria and Bastón prioritize unplugging

Longoria and Bastón make a point to unplug from their devices at the end of the day, so they can spend quality time with each other.
“We have dinner every night and have a glass of wine all the time,” the director said during an April 2022 Entertainment Tonightinterview. “Plus, we are so busy in our day that at night we have so much to talk about that we actually love unplugging and talking at the end of each night.”
She noted that they also limit their son’s screen time.
Bastón is the “best part” of Longoria’s life

Speaking with PEOPLE in May 2017, Longoria opened up about life one year into their marriage.
“My husband is the best part of life,” she said. “Like, people get really annoyed with us because we love each other so much!”
She shared that they are “constantly discovering” new things about each other, and emphasized how compatible they are and their shared values of family, friends and travel.
“There’s a lot we learned together about life,” she added.
