Pedro Pascal appeared on Good Morning America earlier today, and he arrived with a new 50-second clip from The Mandalorian and Grogu before going into detail about the process of making a new Star Wars movie. The movie is just 10 days away from hitting theaters.
During his time on GMA, Pascal talked about making the jump from the small screen to the big screen, and how he’d hoped that it could happen one day:
“It’s a big screen experience. There was something about being a part of Star Wars in a streaming experience that I knew was gonna break the wheel, and provide that experience at home for people. [Getting to] experience these movies on the big screen, that was my secret wish from the beginning. I love that [The Mandalorian] had beautiful seasons for people to see at home, but now, [our director] Jon Favreau knows a big screen experience, puts all of his love of Star Wars, all of his love of movies into this one, on the biggest screen possible. It’s a thrill ride.”
In addition, he also went into detail about how he wants to keep playing the role indefinitely and how he feels that his co-star has earned his spot in the movie’s title:
“It’s the longest creative relationship I’ve ever had – and thank God he wears a helmet! I can age all I want in this role! …I think it’s generous of [Grogu] to have waited this long for his name to be in the title! You know, from Episode 1 of Season 1, everyone’s like ‘That’s the star!’, y’know? So he’s been patient – he’s earned it. Aw man, he deserves the spotlight.”
Along with the short interview, a new clip from the movie was showcased. The Hutt Twins – who are cousins to the late Jabba – have the Mandalorian captured and at their mercy. The Twins order the Mandalorian to be unmasked for two reasons – first, to take the invaluable Beskar steel contained in the helmet for themselves, and second, to shame him among other Mandalorians. Din Djarin coldly replies that there’s a creative solution to his problem. You can watch the interview below; the clip is included in the interview video, starting at 1:30, and was also added as its own individual video:
The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026. The movie clocks in at 2 hours and 12 minutes and is tracking for an $70M+ to $100M+ four-day opening weekend in the United States of America and Canada.
