Jennifer Garner‘s eldest daughter, Violet Affleck, was spotted in Los Angeles kicking off her summer break from Yale University, where she recently wrapped up her sophomore year, as reported by the Daily Mail on Monday May 11.
The 20-year-old grabbed ice cream at Sweet Rose Creamery inside the Brentwood Country Mart with her mom Garner, 54, and younger brother Samuel, 14.
In a rare move, Violet was not wearing her signature face mask during the outing, instead holding it in her hand. Per the article, a day later, the college student was spotted wearing a mask in the car with her mom while picking up In-N-Out Burger.
She has been a vocal advocate for masking in public as a health precaution following a post-viral condition she contracted in 2019, which she revealed at an L.A. County Board of Supervisors meeting in 2024.
The trio kept it casual for the outing, with Violet rocking a Chappell Roan T-shirt, two-toned jeans, and a pink crossbody purse, per the outlet. Garner went with a red-and-black shirt and black leggings, while Samuel sported a white tee with a chain and green sweatpants. Not present for the ice cream run was the siblings’ 17-year-old sibling, Seraphina.

Garner recently opened up about navigating two households to Bustle’s One Nightstand. “When your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad, and he becomes dad and mom,” she explained. “You kind of can’t help it, right? Because you don’t have the benefit of both sides, the yin and yang being in the same house.”
Affleck has also spoken candidly about their split. During a 2020 appearance on Good Morning America, he shared, “I didn’t want to get divorced, I didn’t want to be a divorced person, I really didn’t want to be a split family with my children.”
He added, “It’s in the moments when you’re just taking them back from soccer and they say something profound or they talk about how they’re really feeling about something and it’s like that’s where you get to be the parent. That’s the joy of it. And that’s what I don’t want to miss.”
