Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly absent from the guest list for a major royal wedding next month.
Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling are set to wed on June 6 in the Cotswolds, at All Saints Church in Kemble, Cirencester, following the announcement of their engagement on August 1, 2025.
A source close to the couple revealed that the wedding is being planned as a small, intimate affair, attended only by close friends and immediate family, at a location that holds special significance for them both. This comes as experts believe that a royal return would be “unlikely” as Trump questioned Meghan Markle.
While the absence of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson comes as little surprise, Prince Harry’s exclusion is expected to attract greater scrutiny, given the previously close bond between the two cousins.
Peter Phillips was among the guests at Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle, and Harry likewise attended the 2011 wedding of Peter’s sister, Zara Tindall, to Mike Tindall.

As the eldest grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, Peter was long regarded as a supportive older cousin who helped guide the princes following their mother’s passing.
In the wake of Princess Diana’s death in 1997, Peter and his sister Zara Tindall were among the family members who traveled to Balmoral to be with their cousins during the period of mourning.
At Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021, Peter was notably seen walking between the two brothers during the funeral procession, in a moment that captured the world’s attention.
A close friend of the couple told HELLO!, “Peter and Harriet’s wedding is an intimate occasion with their close friends and immediate family around them in the Cotswolds. It’s an area where they grew up and is very special to them both.”, reports the Express.
“When and whether Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson had been invited, it was probably not deemed appropriate to invite them. It’s Peter and Harriet’s special day, and clearly their attendance would cause a distraction to the whole day.”
When questioned about Prince Harry’s attendance, the friend responded, “Peter and Harry haven’t spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn’t been invited.”
Although the full guest list has not been publicly disclosed, those expected to be present are believed to include Peter Phillips’s immediate family.
He is also thought to maintain strong connections with the household of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, while members of the Edinburgh branch of the family are also anticipated to attend, according to HELLO!
An official announcement from Buckingham Palace confirming the wedding date stated, “Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today announced their wedding date.”
“The summer wedding will take place at All Saints Church, Kemble, Cirencester on Saturday 6th June 2026 in a private ceremony. Both families have been informed jointly of the wedding date by invitation.”
“Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have also been informed of the announcement. Further details will be announced in due course.”
