The hosts welcomed 25 acts on stage as they competed to become this year’s winner of the international song contest. Graham Norton was back in his regular slot commentating on the BBC and he took aim at the hosts in characteristic style.

Victoria and Michael teased they were going to play a game throughout the evening as they wanted to include the names of previous Eurovision winning songs naturally into their announcements. Norton laughed they did the same routine in the rehearsals and joked he couldn’t believe they were including it in the final live show.

Viewers following the show on social media platform X were in stitches at the broadcaster’s jibes. Tom said: “Graham really doesn’t like these hosts does he!! LOVE IT!!!”

DOP Preston said: “Graham Norton saying the two presenters are the opposite of what chemistry is” Kyla added: “sadly, we now return to our hosts” graham you are KILLING me here”

Other viewers on social media platform X were similarly distracted by the hosts as many made the same comments that Michael’s striking purple outfit reminded them of something from the shopping shelves.

Darren said: “These 2 presenters look like giant Quality Street.” Norvik added: “He came as the Quality Street everyone likes.”

Jono commented: “Really craving a Cadbury’s Dairy Milk after seeing his outfit” Charlotte posted: “#Eurovision sponsored by Cadbury’s Dairy Milk”

Michael paid tribute to the comments on his outfit as he said: “Millions of viewers sharing their thoughts. I’ve even received some great fashion advice and thank you very much for your compliments. Keep posting. Most importantly, keep enjoying the show.”

Michael is a popular comedian in Austria and Victoria is the daughter of journalist Alexandra Swarovski and jewellery icon Paul Swarovski. The franchise was founded by Daniel Swarovski in 1895.

At the age of 17, Victoria signed a record deal with Sony Music, releasing her debut single ‘One in a Million’ under the stage name Victoria S and performed the German cover of the theme song for The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

The breakthrough for the Eurovision presenter came in 2016 when she won the ninth season of Let’s Dance, the German equivalent of Strictly Come Dancing. She then joined the panel of Das Supertalent. Other roles included hosting Let’s Dance. Outside of television, the 32-year-old is in charge of the ORIMEI fashion brand.

She said the role as Eurovision host was a dream come true as she said: ” Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest is a true milestone and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me.

“This show is so much more than entertainment – it brings people, cultures and music together in a very special way. That is exactly what makes Eurovision so unique for me.”
