The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final has broken records in Australia, as Delta Goodrem brought the highest interest in the competition to date.
SBS recorded an average audience for its two broadcasts of the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 of 631,000 viewers, the largest combined audience for the contest since Australia’s debut in 2015. The final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest reached 1.2 million viewers during its live broadcast, with a further 802,000 viewers watching the prime-time replay. Overall, the audience is up by 187,000 viewers, an increase of 39% over 2025.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 recorded an average audience in Australia of:
Semi-Final One – 347,000 viewers (126,000 live and 221,000 replay)
Semi-Final Two – 465,000 viewers (196,000 live and 269,000 replay)
Grand Final – 631,000 viewers (464,000 live, 167,000 replay)
In total, 3.27 million viewers watched SBS’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. SBS Head of Unscripted, Joseph Maxwell, said:

Delta Goodrem represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with “Eclipse”. In the final, she placed 4th with a total of 287 points, which included 12 points from the juries in Armenia, Israel and Armenia.

Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest+
Australia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as part of celebrations marking 60 years of the Eurovision Song Contest. SBS has broadcast Eurovision in Australia since 1983. Australia’s best result to date came in 2016 when Dami Im, with the song “Sound of Silence”, finished in 2nd place in the final scoring 511 points, just 23 points away from victory. Australia has finished in the top 10 five times since their debut, most recently in 2023.
