It has been eight years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married in a glamorous ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, England. The affair, on May 19, 2018, brought together royals, world leaders, renowned athletes, celebrities, and friends of the couple to Windsor Castle, where the bride and groom said “I do,” and Meghan became the Duchess of Sussex. Today, in honor of her and Harry’s eight-year wedding anniversary, Meghan shared a series of photos on Instagram—some from their church ceremony, and some from their after-party. “Eight years ago today,” she captioned both posts.

Taken by Chris Allerton, this first set of photos capture Harry and Meghan together at the chapel, sharing intimate moments on their special day, and later, toasting to love alongside their friends and family. One slide shows Harry giving a speech as Meghan gazes lovingly at him. Another shows Sir Elton John playing the piano and singing during the ceremony.
The second set of photos were taken at the party, for which Meghan changed from her timeless Givenchy gown into a backless halter dress by Stella McCartney. The couple is captured sharing their first dance, and later enjoying the festivities with loved ones, and stealing a passionate kiss on the dance floor. They look so in love.
A year after their wedding, on May 6, 2019, Harry and Meghan welcomed their first child, Prince Archie. And in 2020, the pair stepped down from their roles as senior royals, and moved out of London. They landed in California, where Princess Lilibet was born on June 4, 2021.
