Fine, I’ll say it: Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs were, hands down, the best-dressed celebs on the red carpet at the 2026 American Music Awards. After they went viral for their homage to Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet’s Marty Supreme orange premiere looks at the Critics’ Choice Awards back in January, the Hacks stars have truly outdone themselves with their latest coordinating red carpet looks.
Meg’s knee-length hair, styled by Clayton Hawkins, was the main attraction as Paul brushed it down the red carpet with a bedazzled hairbrush:

Her tresses also acted as her top for the awards show, while she and Paul rocked matching blue jeans with belt buckles of each other’s faces. Though they were presenters on the AMAs stage, their stylist, Kat Typaldos, deserves an award for these alone:

Of course, their looks gained traction online before they even hit the stage that night, as the internet theorized which iconic celebrity couples they might be referencing.
“It’s like when Angelina kissed her brother in the 2000s,” one person wrote, referring to Angelina Jolie’s headline-making kiss with James Haven when she won her Oscar for her supporting role in Girl, Interrupted. Others pointed out that their looks also resembled other pop culture moments from Cher, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, and Gabbriette and Matty Healy.

So…who were Meg and Paul actually referencing? According to the comedians: no one. They kept the bit going during red-carpet interviews, as they playfully scoffed at any mention of cosplay.
When speaking with Variety, Paul said, “Cosplay? I’m finally allowed to be myself. I came to Vegas with just Meg and no one else? Yeah, I get to be myself. TSA almost threw us right out the plane. Southwest style.”
Meg, who released her debut single “Prettiest Girl in America” earlier this month, added, “This is our everyday looks, who are we cosplaying as? Two hot models? Who do music?”
In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, the pair gave fans a closer look at their matching belts. “Well, we actually forgot, but we usually wear a vial of each other’s blood. But we forgot the necklaces at home,” Meg said, playfully calling back to Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton’s controversial accessories from the 2000s.
Paul chimed in, adding, “Meg and I are gonna get tattoos. Each of us are going to get a portrait of the other person.”
Hoping these two never change—and that they get a Jimmy and Kayla Hacks spin-off, stat!
