Concerns surrounding the health of Ray J intensified again this weekend after the entertainer reportedly checked himself into a Las Vegas hospital just hours after being knocked out by internet personality Supa Hot Fire during a public event.
According to TMZ, sources close to Ray J said he decided to seek medical attention roughly two hours after the Saturday appearance. The singer has now reportedly spent multiple days in the hospital while doctors continue running tests to determine the severity of his condition. Medical staff are reportedly investigating whether he suffered a concussion, while also monitoring issues related to his heart beating slower than normal.
Ray J hospitalized after being knocked out in fight facing heart issues
The hospitalization has raised even more concern because Ray J has already spent much of the past year publicly discussing serious health problems that he believes nearly cost him his life. The singer and reality television personality has repeatedly spoken about pneumonia, heart complications, substance abuse issues, and frightening warnings from doctors regarding his long-term prognosis.
“My health is not okay”
Earlier this year, Ray J revealed he had been hospitalized in Las Vegas after suffering heart pain and a severe case of pneumonia. Reports indicated that doctors performed X-rays and an echocardiogram while monitoring his condition. Shortly after leaving the hospital, the “Sexy Can I” singer appeared on Instagram Live and delivered one of the most alarming health updates of his career.
During the livestream, Ray J told viewers that his health was “not okay” and claimed doctors believed his condition was extremely serious. In one emotional moment, he declared that “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” suggesting he feared he had very limited time left. The entertainer later attempted to reassure fans in another Instagram video, saying that he believed “everything will be all right” as long as he stayed focused and remained “on the right path.”
Still, the details surrounding his medical condition remained troubling. Ray J later told TMZ that he had become bedridden and was taking eight different medications as part of a strict treatment plan. He also revealed doctors discussed the possibility of him eventually needing either a pacemaker or a defibrillator because of the severity of his heart-related issues.
Problems due to excessive drinking and drug abuse
One of the most shocking admissions came when Ray J openly connected his declining health to years of alcohol and substance abuse. During his livestream, the singer claimed the right side of his heart had turned “black” because of excessive drinking and drug use.
He admitted that he once believed he was “indestructible,” explaining that he consumed heavy amounts of alcohol daily while also abusing Adderall and other substances. Ray J claimed that at the height of his addiction, he was drinking as many as four or five bottles per day while taking multiple pills regularly. The entertainer acknowledged that his lifestyle eventually caught up to him and urged fans to take better care of themselves. Doctors reportedly instructed him to completely stop drinking and smoking while focusing on recovery.
This was not the first major pneumonia scare of Ray J’s life either. Back in 2021, he was hospitalized in Miami with a severe case of non-contagious pneumonia during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, his longtime manager David Weintraub said the singer had simply overworked himself and needed rest. Ray J tested negative for COVID despite widespread concern because of the timing of the hospitalization.
