Kate Middleton had one significant disagreement with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before they left the royal family and moved from the UK to America, according to a royal author.
While reports suggested that tensions between the Waleses and Sussexes stemmed from Prince William and Prince Harry’s “heir and spare” relationship, another crucial element may have contributed.
Russell Myers, author of William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story, suggested Kate objected to Harry and Meghan’s “attitude to palace staff” before they left the royal family. The reports have emerged amid claims Kate hopes Harry and William can one day mend their relationship.
In the biography, released earlier this year, he wrote, “At first, she had thought William and Harry’s squabbles were rooted in immaturity or stubbornness on both sides, but Harry and Meghan’s attitude towards palace staff, who she and William cared about, set them on an entirely different course.”
Meghan was met with allegations of bullying while she remained a senior member of the royal family, which she rejected as “a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex withdrew from their royal duties and relocated to California in 2020, where they live with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, four, reports the Express.
Myers wrote, “[Kate] had seen Harry and Meghan become ever more bitter at having to follow the rules of a hierarchical and hereditary monarchy, until they felt as if they could follow them no longer.
“Sources suggest Catherine had less interest than her husband in trying to persuade Harry to stay in his current role.”
Harry and Kate previously shared a close bond, with the Duke of Sussex once describing her as “the sister I never had and always wanted.”

In his memoir Spare, he wrote, “I liked seeing Kate laugh. Better yet, I liked making her laugh. And I was quite good at it.”
He also revealed that he had looked forward to having a “serious girlfriend” so they could all share laughs together – an outcome that proved short-lived, with the so-called Fab Four last photographed together at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
Royal author Ingrid Seward suggested Harry is unlikely to cross paths with his estranged brother and sister-in-law during a potential visit to the UK this summer.
She noted that the only occasion the three would realistically be in the same room is during a meeting between Harry and King Charles.
“I think the King would pick very carefully who was going to be there at the same time, and it certainly wouldn’t be William and Kate,” she said. “If it were, I’d be absolutely astounded.”
