Can’t wait for his new viral hit about The Older Gentleman that then gets turned in to a movie

    2. genuinely asking bc i’m not familiar with these ghost-directing claims, where are the claims coming from and why?

edit: thank you to everyone who replied!

I can’t believe he’s exposing Scorsese like this. (The marvel movies being the 4% Marty didn’t direct, of course.)

Why does anyone still believe this rumor after Mark Duplass confirmed that Kane Parsons indeed directed it? Mark Duplass is a very accomplished indie director in his own right, why would he lie? People are weird.

Good for Kane for getting his licks in there!

Jealousy makes people haters. These are all older men making these claims. They see Kane and Curry putting in work and moving forward in their careers while so young and instead of being delighted for them and the new talent they’ll bring to the film industry, they think to themselves, “That should have been me”. Bear in mind, these older men haven’t moved forward because they’re unequivocally untalented and aren’t doing the work because they’ve deluded themselves into thinking it’ll just be handed to them. A 20 year old directing his dream movie in Hollywood must infuriate them to no end because in their heart of hearts they know it’ll never be them.

    8. I think people just have a hard time believing that this newer “older” generation of Hollywood isn’t gatekeeping in the same way that Boomers did in the US for so long (in entertainment and most other industries). It’s exciting to see younger people getting the chance to do big things when the ladders have been pulled up everywhere for so long.

    9. “This movie is too good to have been directed by a 20-year old” is actually a pretty nice compliment.

It’s just a stupid idea for a lot of reasons including with the way production companies are designed now, you can look up backrooms assistant directors, the first one has been assistant directing for decades. If Kane has a vision for what he’s trying to achieve he can leverage the years of experience these people (crew, dp’s, ad’s, etc) have to realize it, which is exactly the job of a director.

Funniest part of the rumours is people suggesting someone like Oz Perkins finally directing a decent horror movie and deciding to let Kane Parsons have credit instead.
