There are some royal links on Love Island – and one is Prince Harry’s ex girlfriend (Image: Getty)
Love Island UK returned to TV Monday, June 1 and as a new group of singles enter the villa in search of romance, we’ve taken a look back at some of the former contestants who have had surprising – and unexpected – connections to royalty.
Whether linked to the British royal family or others, there have been quite a few notable instances over the years. From Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend to socializing with both Prince Harry and Prince William, some past islanders have quite the tale to tell.
Sometimes these stories only come to light when contestants are exchanging personal details in the villa. One contestant whose background was already well known was fan favorite Camilla Thurlow, who had a widely publicized connection to the royals after dating Harry, though she remained tight-lipped about the details.
It was revealed before she entered the villa that Harry’s former flame was heading in, yet she was not one to kiss and tell. During one game, when pressed about the romance by her fellow islanders, she responded: “A lady never tells.”
Aaron Francis from the 2021 series also had royal ties, having worked for a luxury events and party host company where his responsibilities included staffing high-profile royal occasions.

He revealed to his fellow contestants that he had worked the weddings of both Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. He told his co-stars, “I hosted and chatted. It was nice and intimate. Everyone’s chill.”
Teddy Soares boasted a remarkable connection to royalty, having once been a prince himself. He revealed to his fellow cast members that he had formerly held the title of prince of Nigeria’s Delta State, a distinction he lost following his grandfather’s passing, severing his royal ties.
Casa Amor contestant Abi Moores also had a surprising royal connection, confiding in her then-partner that she had previously spent time with both Harry and William, a fact she hadn’t considered particularly noteworthy until later in life.
She recalled on the show, “I had horses. I used to live in Sandhurst, where the Royal Military Academy is. I used to keep my horse there and when I was younger, I didn’t know this was weird but Prince Harry and Prince William would be there.
“I literally had no clue that people didn’t know them too.” She further revealed to him that she “knew” the Queen.

Rounding out the royal connections, Helena Ford regaled her All Stars cast mates with her encounter with William and Kate during her career as a flight attendant, describing the couple as “really nice” but bound by strict protocols.
She elaborated, “They can’t fly in the highest cabin, so if there’s a First they have to sit in Business, if there’s no First they have to sit in Traveller Plus.
“But there was a First, so they sat in Business. But the whole of Business Class was their security. There was no one else in there; they had fake names and stuff.”
Only time will reveal if this group of islanders has any intriguing royal connections, but such details inevitably emerge eventually.
