Kate Middleton’s new “biggest ally” within the royal family has been revealed, leaving Meghan Markle, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie out “in the cold,” according to reports.

The Princess of Wales has long been regarded as the royal family’s “secret weapon” with public fascination in her growing. However, she has found herself short of close allies she can join up with following Meghan’s dramatic departure in 2020 for a new life in America and Beatrice and Eugenie’s stepping back after their parents’ scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein.

But now, a new royal figure is emerging and this week signals their “official arrival” as a “new, close companion” for the future queen. On Saturday, June 6, Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, will marry Harriet Sperling and the intimate family occasion will be nothing short of spectacular. While plenty or royals will be there, the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t been invited.

Harriet, an NHS pediatric nurse, has frequently been likened to Kate since her official introduction as Peter’s girlfriend back in 2024.

According to the Daily Mail, both women hail from upper-middle-class families in Berkshire and Gloucestershire, and they’re also close in age – Kate is 44, and Harriet is 45.

Both Kate and Harriet seem to share a love of fashion, displaying a similar style and having a similar impact on the public.

The outlet suggested that even their passions are “interwined,” with Kate being a devoted advocate of early years development, described as her “life’s work,” and Harriet being a trained paediatric nurse. In 2025, the future Mrs Phillips, then known by her maiden name Harriet Sanders, contributed an essay to Woman Alive reflecting on her experience as a single mother raising her daughter, Georgina.

In the piece, she wrote, “My daughter and I journeyed 10 years with only each other. I liken us to an island and it has often felt hard to imagine anyone joining that island…

“The unique relationship between a single mother and her child is forged in the fires of struggles and victories. It’s a bond characterised by a love and survival against the odds.”

The Princess of Wales is equally prolific in her writing, with her most recent essay, The Power of Human Connection in a Distracted World, published through the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.

Co-authored alongside Professor Robert Waldinger of Harvard Medical School, the essay saw Kate caution that excessive screen time is giving rise to an “epidemic of disconnection” that is undermining family life, warning that “we’re physically present but mentally absent, unable to fully engage with the people right in front of us.”

She stated, “While new technology has many benefits, we must also acknowledge that it plays a complex and often troubling role in this epidemic of disconnection.

“While digital devices promise to keep us connected, they frequently do the opposite. Our smartphones, tablets, and computers have become sources of constant distraction, fragmenting our focus and preventing us from giving others the undivided attention that relationships require.”

This Saturday, the royal family is anticipated to present a united front as they gather in the Cotswolds to celebrate the highly anticipated nuptials.

Peter and Harriet are set to exchange vows at All Saints Church in Cirencester, with reports suggesting the reception will be held at Princess Anne’s residence, Gatcombe Park.
