Kevin Durant is back in the headlines for reasons unrelated to basketball. The Houston Rockets star was photographed outside Nobu Malibu, one of Los Angeles’s most exclusive restaurants, leaving with an unidentified woman on the evening of June 4, 2026.

The 37-year-old reportedly noticed the cameras and ducked behind a tall bush near the entrance before the woman stepped outside. He stayed hidden for several minutes before following her to a waiting car.

The woman’s identity remains unknown, and Durant has not commented on the incident. Once both were in the vehicle, they drove off together, per Daily Mail’s Jake Fenner, who first reported the story. No further details about the outing have emerged, and Durant’s camp has remained silent.

The story went viral after PolymarketHoops shared the photos, quickly surpassing 8 million views. The bush detail instantly became a meme, with fans joking about Durant’s 6’11” frame making the hiding attempt ineffective. Standing 6’ 11”, Durant’s frame is not exactly built for cover.

Durant joined the Houston Rockets last summer in a major multi-team trade that sent Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and draft capital to the Phoenix Suns. He then signed a two-year, $90 million extension with the Rockets, locking himself in as the franchise cornerstone heading into his 18th NBA season. His first year in Houston was disrupted by a left ankle sprain that limited him to just one game during the team’s first-round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Durant averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 78 games during the regular season. The numbers confirmed he was still among the league’s elite scorers heading into the offseason. His playoff availability became the defining issue of Houston’s postseason run, as the Lakers eliminated the Rockets in six games despite Durant’s strong showing in Game 2.

Kevin Durant Has Long Kept His Personal Life Out of the Public Eye

Durant’s name has been attached to relationship rumors throughout his career, though he has rarely acknowledged any of them. Earlier in the 2025-26 season, he was linked to former WNBA star Liz Cambage after the two appeared together at a Drake concert in August 2025.

Cambage shut down the speculation herself in an October 2025 interview with TMZ Sports. “You think I’m gonna hard launch a relationship shooting a jump shot at a Drake concert?!” she said. “Just hoops, baby.”

The sighting comes at a complicated time for Durant and the Rockets. The Athletic reported in May 2026 that Durant’s alleged burner account controversy created real friction inside the Rockets organization, “one that was never truly resolved internally.” Houston has not shown intent to move Durant this offseason, but questions around his commitment have not fully faded.

Off the court, Durant has always been clear about one thing: his personal life is his own. The Malibu photos suggest his desire for privacy remains strong, even if the bush made concealment difficult. Houston enters the 2026-27 season hoping its franchise player returns healthy and focused. What happens in Malibu, it seems, stays in Malibu.
