Boiling Point, the acclaimed culinary drama starring Stephen Graham, is currently streaming for free in the UK. And, as the actor’s highest-rated film to date, this is one you shouldn’t wait to check out.
The film sees Graham portray Andy Jones, a head chef working at an upmarket London restaurant. Though he urges his staff to maintain the highest of standards, a routine visit from a health and safety inspector sets off a tense chain of events.
With workplace tensions becoming more palpable, along with the various demands of his needy customers, Andy begins to feel the heat in the kitchen as he attempts to motivate his staff.
Directed and co-written by Philip Barantini, the one-shot drama is based on the 2019 short film of the same name, with the story of Andy and his workers being continued in a similarly lauded BBC series in 2023.

What did critics say about Boiling Point?

The drama was acclaimed by critics upon its theatrical release in 2022, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting a near-perfect approval rating of 99% from 79 reviews. This represents the highest-rated film in Graham’s career, with The Irishman next at 95%.
Much of the praise was directed to the performances as well as Barantini’s direction, with the film reportedly being shot in one take. The Times lauded this technique, opining that it made for an “utterly convincing and immersive experience”.
“Boiling Point does a thorough job of parachuting you into the sweaty, unforgiving confines of a restaurant kitchen,” wrote The Independent, while Empire Magazine called it “fast-paced” and “fascinating”.
“The clatter and choreography is thrilling. As with real restaurant staff, the film-makers sweat for our entertainment,” noted The Financial Times, while Los Angeles Times dubbed it an “exhilarating workplace drama”.
