The royal family were out in force for the wedding of Peter Phillips (son of Princess Anne) and NHS nurse Harriet Sperling at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, on Saturday.

The couple were first reported to be dating in 2024 and tied the knot in a traditional and private ceremony this weekend, with the King, Queen Camilla and more members of the royal family in attendance.

The Princess of Wales arrived alongside Prince William amid a drizzly, grey day. For the occasion she wore an excellent tweed ensemble created by Roland Mouret, a designer who has long been a favourite for the royal – Kate has previously worn Roland Mouret gowns for events including SportsAid and film premieres. The blush-toned dress, complete with a fringe-trimmed collar and gentle pleats in the skirt, was the ideal wedding guest look, topped with a Jane Taylor boater hat with a brown ribbon.

For jewellery, Kate opted for a frequently-worn, three-strand pearl bracelet, which previously belonged to Princess Diana, along with a simple Mappin & Webb empress diamond necklace in white gold. But rather than the Princess of Wales’ usual pearls or hoops, she went for some statement earrings – with a rather lovely backstory.

These earrings are by Kiki McDonough, one of Kate’s favourite jewellery designers – we’ve spotted the royal owns at least 20 pieces by the label, including multiple pairs of these earrings in different gemstone colours. The particular set she wore for the wedding were her pink morganite drop earrings.

That’s lovely to see not only because of morganite’s meaning as a gemstone – it’s a mineral stone that represents unconditional love and romance – but also because of when these specific earrings were previously spotted. The Princess of Wales previously wore this set to her sister’s wedding in Berkshire back in 2017, suggesting that these are earrings she saves for weddings of those very close to her. If an item of jewellery can welcome someone into a family, that’s what these earrings have done.

Kate completed her look with a cream clutch bag by Forever New and a pair of neutral Gianvito Rossi heels.

Prince William and the Princess of Wales were only photographed during their brisk walk from a car into the church, but in that short space of time, delivered multiple sweet moments for fans to enjoy. The usual royal PDA rules seem to have been relaxed for the occasion, with William gently placing a hand on Kate’s back and later sharing an umbrella, giggling as the pair navigated the wet weather.

It appears the couple attended the wedding solo, as their children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight, weren’t spotted. Instead, taking on the role of entertaining royal child was Lena Tindall, the seven-year-old daughter of Mike and Zara Tindall. Lena more than delivered the joyous moments, twirling an umbrella printed with unicorns and rainbows.
