If the trailers for Supergirl are anything to go by, it looks like it will be a fun time at the cinema when the film releases later this month. Now that it’s been confirmed as having one of the shortest runtimes in the DC Universe, it really could be a breezy affair!
The highly-anticipated superhero film sees Milly Alcock reprise her brief role of Kara Zor-El from 2025’s Superman, with the hero traversing across the galaxy with adorable sidekick Krypto on a quest for revenge.
Ahead of its release on 26 June, it has been confirmed that the runtime for Supergirl is roughly 108 minutes, making it 21 minutes shorter than James Gunn’s Superman. Furthermore, it is also one of the shortest films in DC history (via IFCO).

Directed by Craig Gillespie, best known for I, Tonya and Cruella, Supergirl boasts a stacked supporting cast including Jason Momoa and Emily Beecham, while David Corenswet is set to appear as Superman.
Alcock previously teased details of Corenswet’s cameo as Superman, sharing: “It wasn’t in the suit and I was speaking a different language – that day was really hard. It was, like, two degrees… The whole scene was in Kryptonian.”
The actor, who has also appeared in House of the Dragon, called her character a “flawed hero”, noting: “I think that we’re thrusted upon this narrative, especially women, that you have to be perfect in every aspect of your life.”
“Kara is someone who so beautifully leans into her flaws. I think that’s really special,” she continued, before adding that Supergirl shows that “you don’t have to be perfect in order to come to some sort of internal self-resolution”.

Man of Tomorrow is Gunn’s follow-up to Superman, with the superhero film due to hit the big screen next year. Ahead of its release, a first look at Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor provided a telling narrative clue.
