Warrior, the “powerful” sports drama starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, is now streaming for free in the UK. Lauded by critics and boasting an Academy Award-nominated performance, this is one to watch tonight!
The film, from writer-director Gavin O’Connor, sees Hardy and Edgerton play Tommy and Brendan, a pair of estranged brothers who have barely spoken for years. Tommy, a former marine, contacts his father Paddy with an update and a job offer.
He wants to get back into shape and train for a brutal MMA tournament, unaware that Brendan also has eyes on the same event. As the brothers meet, past tensions are brought to light.

What did critics say about Warrior?
The sports drama was acclaimed upon its release in 2011, with much praise going to the performances. Nolte’s turn was particularly lauded, with the actor garnering Best Supporting Actor nods at the 84th Academy Awards and 18th SAG Awards.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Warrior currently has an impressive approval rating of 84% from 191 reviews, with the site’s consensus noting that the “gripping action, powerful acting and heart” transcends any genre cliches.
“It hardly rewrites the rulebook, but Warrior is a powerful, moving and brilliant sports-pic-cum-family drama,” opined Empire Magazine, while Little White Lies (via Rotten Tomatoes) praised the “barnstorming” fight scenes.
“Its three leads certainly deserve consideration for their artfulness in being able to infuse it with intimations of quality,” wrote The Sydney Morning Herald, while Rolling Stone called it “fiercely moving”.
