A Slough trustee supporting homeless people for nearly three decades is among those named on the King’s Birthday Honours List.

The annual list features several individuals from Maidenhead, Slough, Windsor, Bourne End and Wokingham who have been recognised this year.

Charles Hunter Donald from Maidenhead has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to public finance.

He served as chief executive of UK Government Investments from March 2020 until January 2026.

Before entering public service, he spent more than 30 years working in investment banking.

He served on the board of the UK Infrastructure Bank, now the National Wealth Fund, as well as trustee of the armed forces charity Help for Heroes and chair of the Lambrook School Trust.

Meanwhile, Diane Joan Redfern, chair of trustees and group organiser at South Bucks Riding for the Disabled Group, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to disabled riders.

She first welcomed the group to the Redfern family home five decades ago, and South Bucks RDA has grown, creating opportunities for people with disabilities to benefit from horse riding and equestrian activities.

She is Honorary Vice President of the national charity, Riding for the Disabled Association, and volunteers have praised her as a ‘guiding light’ in the National Riding for Disabled movement.

Nuala Anne Fox has spent almost 30 years supporting the London and Slough Charitable Trust, first serving as secretary before later becoming a trustee.

She has been awarded an MBE for her services to homeless people. Among her many roles, Nuala volunteers as an evening packer at the charity’s food redistribution centre at Dukes House.

She also manages the organisation’s website and social media channels and is an active member of the charity’s fundraising and event organising team.

“I am honoured to be recognised for my work with the London and Slough Charitable Trust and would like to thank the amazing board of trustees and volunteers within the charity who have been an absolute pleasure to work with over the years,” Nuala said.

“We are committed to helping the local community as much as we can, which is needed more than ever as rising energy and food costs push more people into food poverty.”

Slough-based co-founders of luxury bespoke streetwear label clothsurgeon have been awarded an MBE for services to men’s fashion and tailoring.

Creative director Ravinder Singh Matharu and his wife and business partner, Parvinder Kaur Matharu, launched the brand in 2012, becoming the first business on Savile Row to be owned and operated by a South Asian designer.

Susan Karen Parsonage serves as chief executive of Wokingham Borough Council and has been awarded an MBE for her services to local government.

She leads the council’s senior management team and workforce to achieve the authority’s priorities and ensure the delivery of the council’s long-term plan.

Professor Andy Purvis, from Ascot, is a research leader at the Natural History Museum, who has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to biodiversity science.

He co-leads the Biodiversity Futures Lab and the internationally recognised PREDICTS Project.

He also acted as a scientific adviser on broadcaster Sir David Attenborough’s documentary, Extinction: The Facts.

Award-winning musician and broadcaster Cerys Matthews MBE, based in Bourne End, has been awarded an OBE for her services to music.

She is best known as the lead singer of Welsh band Catatonia and presents on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Radio 4.

She was awarded an inaugural St David Award by the Welsh Government in 2014 for services to culture and was made an MBE the same year for her services to music.

Finally, philanthropist Leah Rani Chowdhry from Slough has been awarded an MBE for her services to charitable fundraising.

Plus, Donald Richard Todd and Jean Mary Todd have both been named Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for their services to the Windsor community.
