On Wedneday, the Royal Enclosure played host to a dazzling display of royal camaraderie. The extended Windsor and Middleton families gathered for what can only be described as a fun day out.
Away from the rigid protocol of state banquets and official ceremonies, the event offered a rare glimpse into the warm, off-duty dynamics of the royal inner circle. The dress code was as strict as ever. However, the mood was wonderfully relaxed, marked by animated conversations, wide smiles, and fits of laughter near the parade ring.

Leading the style charge, of course, was the Princess of Wales. Attending day two of the 2026 Royal Ascot, her first time at the event since 2023, the Princess wowed in a stunning lemon-yellow dress and matching hat that eagle-eyed royal fans recognised as a rewear. The bow-adorned Roksanda piece was first debuted by the Princess of Wales during a royal tour of Jamaica in March 2022. She wore it a second time later that year at Wimbledon. To complete the vibrant summer look for the Ascot, Kate paired the striking yellow dress with a Jane Taylor London hat, nude Gianvito Rossi heels, and meaningful heirloom jewelry. This included Princess Diana’s three-strand pearl bracelet and Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond chandelier earrings.
Also looking exceptionally radiant was Carole Middleton. The Princess of Wales’s mother proved once again that she is a master of daytime elegance, stepping out in the Catherine Walker coat dress she originally wore to her daughter Pippa Middleton’s 2017 wedding to James Matthews. She was joined by her chic daughter-in-law, Alizée Thevenet. James Middleton’s wife opted for a breezy, vintage-inspired white dress and a straw hat that perfectly captured her effortlessly cool French-girl aesthetic. The mother and daughter-in-law duo were spotted sharing a lively, laughing exchange with Princess Catherine.

Always ready for a good time, Zara and Mike Tindall were one of the first to arrive on the day. The former Olympic equestrian looked lovely in a lilac belted midi dress by one of her favourite designers, Rebecca Vallance. She paired it with Emmy London heels in misty rose suede, Kiki McDonough earrings, and a pair of rose-hued Bulgari sunglasses she wore last year to Royal Ascot.
Just ten days after tying the knot, Harriet Sperling made her glamorous debut as a royal newlywed at the 2026 Royal Ascot. Stepping out for their first public appearance as husband and wife, Harriet officially went by her new name, listed as “Mrs. Peter Phillips” on the Royal Ascot lineup.

The couple arrived in true royal fashion, riding in a horse-drawn carriage procession alongside Harriet’s new mother-in-law, Princess Anne. Looking every bit the royal, Harriet wore an elegant icy blue gown by Princess Kate-approved designer Suzannah London, perfectly coordinated with a Jane Taylor hat and Jimmy Choo heels. Meanwhile, Peter complemented her look with a matching blue tie. The pair were pictured looking incredibly loved up in the Royal Box, clinking glasses and happily mingling with King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Harriet’s new sister-in-law, Zara Tindall.

In what was a particularly heartwarming sight for royal watchers, Lady Gabriella Kingston was also in attendance and in wonderful spirits. Making a graceful and joyous appearance in the Royal Enclosure, Lady Gabriella looked stunning in a pale blue coat dress paired with a classic headpiece. She was seen smiling as she caught up with the Prince and Princess of Wales. This was a beautiful testament to the tight-knit support system within the family.
King Charles and Queen Camilla were also spotted mingling with the extended family, presenting a deeply united and cheerful front.
Still Missing, But Not For Long?
However, as the royal relatives laughed and celebrated together in the June sunshine, it was hard for some onlookers not to notice the absence of the Duke of Sussex. The joyful gathering marked yet another quintessential British family event that Prince Harry has missed out on. But the Sussexes’ absence from the UK won’t last for much longer; reportedly, Harry and his family are preparing to return to Britain in the coming weeks. This is to officially mark the one-year countdown until the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
For now, though, the day belonged to the extended royal family, proving that whether they are cheering from the stands or catching up on family news, their shared joy remains their best accessory.
