Stop! That! Train!, a brand-new comedy starring a whole host of RuPaul’s Drag Race favourites and other recognisable names, including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, has landed a UK release date.
Released last week in the US, the movie – which has been hailed as the “funniest movie you will see this year” by Loud and Clear Reviews – will be speeding into UK and Ireland cinemas on 21 August through Universal.
The release date announcement was marked by Ru herself in a new social media video. “Make a date with your mates, because this is one bonkers ride you won’t wanna miss. Choo choooooo!” Ru said with a barely straight face.

Stop! That! Train! follows a duo of train stewardesses who sneak onto the luxury Glamazonian Express to get a taste of the high life. Unfortunately, it’s headed right into a storm where disaster is sure to strike, unless, of course, they can stop that train.
Ru leads the film herself as the US president, while Drag Race’s Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Marcia Marcia Marcia (credited Marty Lauter), Latrice Royale, Monét X Change, Symone, and Michelle Visage all star.
In addition to Buffy the Vampire Slayer icon Gellar and Modern Family’s Ferguson, the ensemble cast also includes Community’s Joel McHale and That’s So Raven’s Raven-Symoné.
The Simple Life’s Nicole Richie, Saturday Night Live’s Chris Parnell, Mean Girls’ Daniel Franzese, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom, Real Housewives’ Lisa Rinna, and Fire Island’s Matt Rogers star as well.
The film has been directed by Adam Shankman, who previously helmed Hairspray, Rock of Ages and Disenchanted.

Stop! That! Train! has proven to be a hit with critics, currently sitting at 85% positive from 47 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.
“With a whip-smart drag queen cast and celebrity cameos, Adam Shankman’s film is a refreshingly kooky twist on the summer movie caper”, wrote The Guardian, adding that every frame is “chock-full of a 30 Rock episode’s worth of visual gags”.
The Travers Take added: “This raucous runaway choo-choo comedy starring RuPaul as the POTUS we need right now is perfect fun for Pride month.”
IndieWire said the script was far better than most Drag Race acting challenges and that it is “best enjoyed about three margaritas deep”, while Variety praised the performances of its main three stars for keeping things “on the right track”.
Stop! That! Train! is out in US cinemas now, and will be released in UK and Ireland cinemas on 21 August.
