Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to return to his home country together for the first time in four years.

It will be a family affair. Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, are expected to bring Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, to the U.K. in July, according to a Friday, June 19, report by People. The visit lines up with the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, an adaptive sporting competition for service members and veterans that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have supported together at past countdown events. Harry has returned to the U.K. several times since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, but Meghan and the children have stayed away since 2022.

The outlet reported that King Charles has offered his younger son’s family lodging on a royal estate ahead of the visit, though there has been no response from Harry and Meghan.

Even if the family does stay on royal grounds, it wouldn’t change their security situation, which falls under the Home Office rather than the royal family. As Star previously reported, Harry and Meghan lost government-funded police protection after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, a decision Harry has since challenged in court, citing ongoing safety concerns for his family while in the U.K.

No reunion between Harry and his father, 77, has been confirmed for the upcoming visit, but the two have met during prior trips. They last saw each other on September 10, 2025, at the King’s London residence, while Harry was in the country for WellChild Awards and Invictus Games events, per People.

Harry has been candid about why his wife and kids haven’t joined him. Per the report, in a statement to the High Court in London, he said he needs protection for Archie and Lilibet “to feel at home” in his native country, adding, “That cannot happen if there is no possibility to keep them safe when they are on U.K. soil.” He also said, “I can’t put my wife in danger like that, and given my experiences in life, I’m reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”

No matter how deep the rift, Harry wants it to end. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” he said in 2025, per the BBC.
