LOS ANGELES — A new featurette is answering the call, shining a spotlight on the actress stepping into the role of the beloved wayfinder.

Fans can get to know Catherine Laga’aia, who transforms into Moana for the live-action adaptation.

The behind-the-scenes look also captures the emotional moment Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson called to personally congratulate her after the casting announcement.

“Getting to represent the Pacific Islands is something I’ve always dreamed of doing,” Laga’aia said.

Original Moana voice star Auli’i Cravalho, who serves as an executive producer on the film, also shared her excitement about passing the torch.

“It is such a joy to see Catherine take on the life of this character and my gosh she is strong, is she beautiful, she is all these things that we know and love about our main heroine,” she said.

And for fans eager to hear new music, Lin-Manuel Miranda returns to lend his talents once again, writing an original song for the film titled “Along the Way.”

“Moana” premieres in theaters July 10.
