If you blinked and missed the screening of the Chinese production Dear You the first time, here’s your second shot.

After its original run sold out in just two hours, Golden Village is now adding eight more sessions of the Teochew-language film from June 25 to 29, 2026.

The catch? You’ll have to make your way to GV VivoCity, where the additional screenings will be shown exclusively at the cinema’s GVMax hall.

Directed and co-written by Chinese filmmaker Lan Hongchun, Dear You marks his third feature in the Chaoshan dialect following Proud of Me and Back to Love. The screenplay was penned by Lan alongside co-writers Zheng Xuanxuan, Yang Leng and Zhu Liyun.

The 118-minute family drama follows a debt-ridden grandson who travels to Thailand in search of his long-lost grandfather, only to uncover a decades-old secret hidden within a collection of qiaopi – letters and remittances sent by overseas Chinese migrants to their families back in China.

It’s this very premise that makes Dear You resonate so strongly in Singapore. The story traces the migration routes that shaped many Teochew communities across Southeast Asia, unfolding between China and Thailand while exploring themes of family, identity and cultural memory.

Shot almost entirely in Teochew, Dear You was originally slated for a wider release in its Mandarin-dubbed version, in line with Singapore’s bilingual language policy. But demand for the original dialect edition prompted Golden Village and its distributor, Clover Films, to work with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to secure additional screenings.

Tickets go on sale on June 22 at 3pm via Golden Village’s website, app and box office counters. Prices are set at $18.50 for the general public and $16.50 for GV Movie Club members.
