HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Huntsville’s JuneFest is marking a major milestone this year, celebrating its 10th anniversary with a weekend of concerts, custom cars, and a celebrity basketball game.

WAFF 48’s digital host Tatyana White sat down with JuneFest co-founder Lee Adams inside the 48+ streaming studio to preview what’s planned for June 26-28. Adams is also the owner of Spokes-N-Vogues, a custom car and restoration business based in the Huntsville area, where several cars have been customized for celebrities like rappers Too $hort and Snoop Dogg.

“This is a milestone to do something this long, doing something that you love,” Adams said.

JuneFest’s weekend schedule includes a concert featuring rapper T.I. and P$C at The Orion Amphitheater, a car show at Joe Davis Stadium’s Wicks Family Field, and a celebrity basketball game hosted by Levi Randolph at Bob Jones High School.

From Lowe Mill to Year 10

Adams said JuneFest started as a smaller event at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment and has continued to grow over the last decade.

“Year one, we were at Lowe Mill in the parking lot, like in the grass area,” Adams said.

Adams said the team continued the event through the COVID-19 pandemic, including what he described as a “masked car show” during the height of the pandemic.

“It’s been a journey,” Adams said. “Our team is solid, and we’re just looking to go a whole other 10, 20 years.”

Friday concert at The Orion Amphitheater

The JuneFest weekend begins Friday, June 26, with a concert featuring T.I. and P$C at The Orion Amphitheater. Tickets are available through the Orion’s website.

“T.I. is coming with P$C,” Adams said. “It was just a blessing to be able to get him to come.”

Adams also noted the timing of the performance alongside other major entertainment events and said T.I.’s new album is scheduled to drop on the day of the concert.

Saturday car show at Joe Davis Stadium

Adams said the car show remains a centerpiece of JuneFest and will feature a wide range of vehicles. It will be held on Saturday, June 27.

“You can expect this year for every type of car you can think of from all genres,” Adams said, listing styles ranging from lowriders and tuners to classics, vintage cars, antiques, and new models.

Adams said the event is expected to draw people from out of town, and that some attendees have already secured entry and VIP spots.

This year, Adams said the car show will add a kid zone and school supply giveaways.

“We’re going to have a kid zone out there with bouncies, games,” Adams said. He said JuneFest also plans to give away backpacks, school supplies, and bikes.

Adams said the VIP experience includes an area where attendees can overlook the car show from upstairs, with food and drinks served there.

Adams said JuneFest outgrew Milton Frank Stadium, prompting the move to Joe Davis Stadium.

“When you get a visit from the fire marshal saying, ‘Hey, you know, slow this down,’” Adams said. “At that point, it was surreal to understand that we had to move to the Joe Davis Stadium because we maxed it out.”

Adams also said some guests from Netflix’s show “Beauty in Black” are expected to attend the car show, including Kajanee Smith (“Felicia”) and Julian Horton (“Roy”).

    Sunday celebrity basketball game

JuneFest wraps up on Sunday, June 28, with the Levi Randolph Celebrity Basketball Game at Bob Jones High School.

Adams described the game as part of JuneFest’s emphasis on community-focused events this year.

“We want everybody to come out and have a good time,” Adams said.

    Tickets, vendors, and sponsorships

Adams said tickets for the T.I. concert are available through The Orion Amphitheater website, and car show tickets are available through the Best of Huntsville website. People can also pay for the car show in person at the entrance.

Adams said tickets are sold separately for each event.

Adams said vendor and sponsorship opportunities for this year are sold out.

“This has been our biggest year yet of that,” Adams said.

    A message to first-time attendees

Adams said JuneFest has built its name on what he called the atmosphere at the car show and the reception visitors get in Huntsville.

“JuneFest has built its name as becoming one of the car shows that has one of the greatest vibes in the U.S.,” Adams said. “Everybody in Huntsville is welcoming.”

Adams encouraged people across Huntsville and the surrounding areas to come out for the weekend.

“Come out, have a good time this weekend,” he said.
