With 2024’s This Is How Tomorrow Moves, Beabadoobee stuck mostly to the alt-pop sound she’s known for. Now it looks like the English singer-songwriter — who turned 26 earlier this month — is pivoting to emo. Today, she’s announcing her fourth studio album Pylon, and it features major alternative names like Paramore/solo star Hayley Williams, Deftones’ Chino Moreno, Turnstile’s Brendan Yates, the 1975’s Matty Healy and George Daniel, Basement’s Andrew Fisher, as well as low-key legends like Title Fight’s Shane Moran and Pinegrove’s Evan Stephens Hall (Bea Laus, incidentally, has a Pinegrove tattoo).

“A lot of the songs on this record are things I wish I could have said to someone,” Beabadoobee explains of the lead single “Sun Has Set,” out now. “This song has this petty tunnel vision — it’s like, I hate you. You’re gonna stay here and listen to how much I hate you. Because I never got to say that.” Like most of the tracks on the album, she wrote it with Title Fight’s Moran as well as “All I Did Was Dream Of You” collaborator Luca Buccellati.

“Sometime over a year ago I flew from PA to London on a whim to see if I could connect with the great [Beabadoobee] on some songwriting,” Morgan writes about the project. “It turned out to be a wonderfully inspiring trip.”

“Sun Has Set” has the explosive angst and edgy infectiousness of a Title Fight cut. It comes with a video directed by Beabadoobee’s partner and longtime visual collaborator Jake Erland; watch below.
