The celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe in July lost one quarterback, but gained another – a retired QB who will be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame later this summer.
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has withdrawn from the American Century Championship golf tournament (July 8-12), but Drew Brees will join the field, along with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
Brees, who retired from the New Orleans Saints in 2000 after a 20-year NFL career, last played at Edgewood in 2007.
Autographs
Autographs are highly sought at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament.
Here’s how to go about trying to procure autographs:
Attend early in the week: Your best chances are Tuesday through Thursday (July 7-9) during unofficial practice rounds and the Celebrity-Am. Celebrities are much more relaxed and allowed to sign anywhere on the course.Stake out practice areas: The practice putting green and driving range are the best spots to catch celebrities.Follow key holes: Wait near the No. 17 tee box or the No. 18 green. Play often gets backed up at No. 17, allowing celebrities a few minutes to chat and sign autographs.Bring a sharpie: Come prepared with a permanent marker, and limit your items to one or two per celebrity.Follow tournament rules: During official competition rounds (Friday–Sunday, July 10-12), players are usually prohibited from signing autographs while on the course. Sports memorabilia like loose jerseys, trading cards and balls are generally prohibited; stick to the official tournament program or hat.American Century Championship – Celebrities
