According to Deadline, footage from Star Wars: Starfighter, the newest Star Wars film slated to hit theaters later next year, was shown at CineEurope.
Whisperings of the film’s development have been going around for year but, after the film’s official announcement at Star Wars Celebration Japan, fans have been eager to get a first look at the film. According to director Shawn Levy, Starfighter started filming around September 2025, was halfway done by November, and is now well into the editing process. The movie’s cast have had nothing but rave reviews of the film’s script and on-set atmosphere, only adding to fan’s excitement.
The first look that fans are craving has been teased for months and, fortunately, the wait could almost be over as D23 rapidly approaches.

D23, dubbed “The Ultimate Disney Fan Event”, is an annual convention where the company showcases upcoming projects, events, and new technologies. The D23 stage has given Star Wars fans first looks at several recent projects including Skeleton Crew, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. While nothing has been announced yet, D23 seems to be the most likely place to unveil Starfighter‘s first official trailer.
In addition to the Starfighter footage, Deadline reports that Disney’s CineEurope presentation also included clips from some of their other upcoming projects, including the live action remake of Moana, new animated movies Hexed and Gatto, as well as the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.
Also during their presentation, Disney gave more information about their new large-format movie screenings, named “Infinity Vision”.
First announced at this year’s CinemaCon, Infinity Vision is, in concept, very similar to IMAX – larger, brighter screens with better audio that offer moviegoers a more immersive experience. Infinity Vision promises to be “a means to guide moviegoers to the best screens available” and aims to highlight “non-IMAX, 4DX, and Dolby screens”. In the past few months, over 7,500 applications from around the world were submitted to get the new certification.
To get certified and receive Infinity Vision branding, screens will have to be a minimum of 45 feet wide, have an immersive audio system, and reach certain thresholds for brightness – 14 footlamberts for 2D movies and 6 for 3D. Disney has until September 25th to accept as many as possible before Avengers: Endgame Encore – the re-release of the final Infinity Saga film directed by the Russo Brothers.
In addition to the certified Infinity Vision screens, other large-format venues will continue to receive their own marketing campaigns for future Disney releases. Premium large-form releases can account for around 40% of opening weekends in North America; for example, Toy Story 5 made close to $64 million from these screens on its recent opening weekend.
While no news has been released about Star Wars: Starfighter’s Infinity Vision release, the movie is set to release on May 28th, 2027 and has been confirmed for IMAX screens around the world.
