DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation have announced three new animated series in the works – “Absolute Batman,” “Joker: Laugh Riot,” and “Krypto”.

The projects were announced as part of a joint DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this morning.

“Absolute Batman” is based on the monthly comic book of the same name that began in October 2024, and the comic’s creators – writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta – will be involved in the show’s development. Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

A reimagining of Batman, this has Bruce Wayne as a 24-year-old blue-collar civil engineer who has only lost one parent. He operates at night as the vigilante Batman, fighting crime with his self-designed equipment and armour.

In this version, Alfred Pennyworth is an MI6 agent stalking him while many enemies like The Riddler, The Penguin, etc. are childhood friends. This version of The Joker is a billionaire.

The Clown Prince of Crime is getting his own series, an anime titled “Joker: Laugh Riot”. DC animation veteran Jim Krieg will executive produce.

In this series, Batman is murdered, and The Joker launches a ruthless crusade through Gotham’s underworld to find the killer who took away his greatest adversary and the man who gave his life meaning.

Finally comes an untitled “Krypto” series focusing on the white dog from “Superman” and “Supergirl” who tags along with a gang of misfit criminal wannabes who live nearby, and his pure nature slowly ends up redeeming them. C.H. Greenblatt (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) executive produces that.
