The Gist

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be responsible for their own security when they visit the United Kingdom next month.

They’ll return with their kids Archie and Lilibet in July.

“Harry always travels with one of two of his own security team,” an insider said.

Amid Prince Harry’s battle to retain taxpayer-funded security in the United Kingdom, the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, are reportedly expected to bring their own bodyguards when they return to the country next month.

Harry, Meghan, and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are visiting the U.K. in July, marking their first family trip since 2022. According to Page Six, the four of them are prepared for a “huge spectacle” upon their arrival in Birmingham, where Harry will be promoting the 2027 Invictus Games.

The outlet also claimed that Harry hasn’t been granted armed police escorts from the British Home Office after losing a legal challenge to restore his taxpayer-funded protection in 2025. However, his father, King Charles, has offered Harry and his family a royal residence for their stay, which includes private security.

A source close to the Sussexes said while they won’t be traveling via private jet, they will have their own bodyguards in tow: “Harry always travels with one of two of his own security team,” they told Page Six.

“They know it will make the biggest spectacle,” the insider added. “They will want photos of them being ‘royal.’”

There’s also a chance that the family will be staying at Princess Diana’s former home. The late Princess of Wales spent her teenage years at Althorp House in West Northamptonshire, about an hour away from Birmingham.

According to Althorp House’s website, the estate will be closed to the public on July 10 and 11, suggesting that Harry could be visiting with Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet. The duke’s Invictus Games countdown event takes place exactly one year before the 2027 games, which are slated to begin on July 10 of that year.

Diana moved into Althorp in 1975, at age 14, when her father, John Spencer, inherited the title of earl and the rights to the estate. Before that, they lived at the idyllic Park House on the royal family’s Sandringham estate.
