Blue Ivy Carter, 14, showed off a hip-skimming braid during a rare appearance with her dad Jay-Z
The pair made enjoyed a rare father-daughter outing at an Apple Music event on June 25.
Beyoncé recently revealed that Carter inspired Jay-Z to grow out his natural hair.
Blue Ivy Carter, 14, had a surprise glam moment on Thursday with her dad, Jay-Z. On June 25, the pair made a father-daughter appearance at her dad’s Reasonable Doubt Jay-Z30 pop-up event, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, in New York City. In a video posted to Roc Nation’s Instagram Stories, Blue joined her dad for a quick photo op, where she showed off a lengthy braid that elevated her streetwear look from all angles.
The plait, which featured blonde highlights, began at the base of her head and draped across her shoulder, past the waist of her jeans. With her hair tied back, the teenager looked just like her mom, Beyoncé, showcasing her radiant complexion and look-alike bone structure. For the surprise outing, Blue donned a gray hoodie by luxury streetwear label Fear of God Essentials. She paired the hoodie with light-wash jeans that read “LDN” across the front.

The teenager completed the look with stacked gold rings, matching hoop earrings, black-framed glasses, and a blue shoulder bag. On her hands, Carter also sported a lengthy set of bejeweled nails.
A hair chameleon like her mom, the 14-year-old old is no stranger to experimenting with different hairstyles. Some of Blue’s most standout looks in recent years include boho braids, half-up, half-down braids, and loose curls that showcase her natural hair texture.
Blue’s appearance at the pop-up event comes just days after Beyoncé shared that her oldest daughter inspired Jay-Z to grow out his natural hair. “I thought it was always beautiful that the real reason Jay grew out his hair was to show Blue that her hair was like his hair,” the Grammy-winner said in a YouTube video uploaded by her haircare line, Cécred, on June 21.

The mom of three continued, “Let me rewind and tell you some backstory. Our daughter was about five, and she wasn’t feeling very confident about her hair at that time. When she told her father that, it inspired Jay to grow out his hair.” Beyoncé added, “We really wanted her to love and embrace every inch of her gorgeous curls.”
In May, the teenager also made Met Gala history by accompanying her mom to the prestigious fashion event, breaking the gala’s strict age policy. For the event, Blue wore a strapless Balenciaga dress with a high-low bubble hemline. She layered the dress beneath a matching jacket that cascaded to the floor, creating a dramatic train. For her glam, Blue opted to wear her hair down, showcasing her voluminous curls. She also rocked a lengthy French manicure.
