During his trip in February, the monarch met with farmers and the community in what was described as a “once in a lifetime” event.
The report, which covers the 12 months to March, included a breakdown of all journeys by Royal Family members where travel costs exceeded £20,000, and details that royal trips exceeded £3.3 million.
His journey to Clitheroe totalled £40,738, more than £8,000 cheaper than his trip to Lancaster in June 2025.
Charles arrived into Clitheroe on the royal train, and with Buckingham Palace announcing last year that the royal train would be taken out of service by 2027 to save money, it may be the final time locomotive fans in the county have been able to see it in action.

During his visit, he greeted farmers at Clitheroe Auction Mart, as well as a trip to Samlesbury Hall, where he met with trustees and volunteers of the 700-year-old Grade-I listed medieval manor, along with representatives from local businesses, including two Shire horses from Thwaites Brewery.
Speaking at the event, the King said: “I wanted to say what an enormous pleasure it is to join you briefly on what I suspect is a specially organised occasion when you should be doing other things on your farms.
“I promise I know only too well how vital the sector and farming sector is to this country.
“I founded the Countryside Fund almost 20 years ago, and I hope it is contributing to some degree to the welfare and adaptability of farmers and to the challenges and complications you have to meet.
“I have some appreciation for what you put up with and thank God for marts like this and all the people associated with it.
“I can only hope you have as successful a season as possible, weather permitting, climate change permitting and everything else.
“It is remarkable how you manage, and I admire that hugely.”
Butler’s Farmhouse Cheeses in Inglewhite was also paid a visit, after its previous home in Longridge was destroyed in a fire in 2023.
He officially opened the firm’s Maturation Shed and also unveiled a commemorative stone marking the visit, as well as sampling some of the cheese on offer and being gifted some to take home with him.
The Prince of Wales’s trip to Saudi Arabia in February, on behalf of the UK Government, was the most expensive trip and cost a total of £130,106.
This was just ahead of the £126,946 in travel costs for the King and Queen’s four-day state visit to Italy in April 2025.
A total of 37 separate journeys were listed in the year to March.
Some 177 helicopter journeys were made by members of the royal family in 2025/26, costing £733,063 overall.
Total spending on journeys across the 12-month period, including trips that cost both above and below £20,000, was £3,316,024.
Just outside the top five most expensive journeys is a trip that did not directly involve any royals.
This was a planning visit to the United States and Bermuda carried out in late February and early March by staff working for the King and Queen to prepare for the royal visit two months later, which clocked up travel costs of £66,060.
