Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Spider-Man is right around the corner, making it his seventh time playing the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (plus a brief appearance in the second Venom film).
If/when the actor decides to hang up the webs, he’s got a very specific idea about who’d he like to replace him as the next Peter Parker, and his choice may prove popular with several people.
“Owen Cooper would be awesome”, Holland said in the latest issue of Esquire. “Obviously, he’s super-talented and he’s the talk of the town right now.”

Cooper shot to fame last year at just 15 years old for his award-winning performance in Netflix’s Adolescence, opposite Stephen Graham. Since then, he starred alongside Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in Wuthering Heights.
As the current Spidey notes, Cooper’s star is certainly on a meteoric rise at the moment, so will Marvel be able to snap him up? And will he want to lock into a multi-picture deal at such a young age?
Holland recently spoke about the future of Spider-Man, noting that he would like to move on from the role and that he’d like to see the films take a different approach to casting another Peter Parker.
“For whoever’s next, whether that is a Miles Morales, a Spider-Gwen, a Spider-Woman or something like that, I would love to be a part of setting up the next chapter,” he said.

“Whatever that looks like, I don’t know. But if I could do what [Robert Downey Jr] did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset.”
Meanwhile, if you want to catch up on Tom Holland’s three Spider-Man films so far, you’ve got just days left to watch them on Prime Video before they are removed.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released in UK cinemas on 29 July and in US cinemas on 31 July.
