Vicky Pattison says she plans to honour her late grandad when she names her future child. The Geordie TV star, author, podcaster and radio presenter shared a deeply personal message to her grandfather in a video released by Alzheimer’s Society.

In the video, published on the charity’s TikTok channel as part of its ‘Forget Me Not Appeal’, Vicky visits the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Box – a specially designed phone box where visitors can leave messages for loved ones living with dementia or those they have lost to the condition.

Vicky’s message is dedicated to her grandad, David, who died in 2022 after living with dementia for several years. “So much has changed,” she said. “So much that I wish you’d been here to see.”

In the emotional video, Vicky reflects on key moments in her life that her grandad wasn’t able to share, including meeting her husband, Ercan, who she married in 2024.

Vicky said: “All you ever wanted was for me to find someone lovely and nice, who loves me. He does both of those things. He reminds me so much of you.

“And he loves his sport. Oh my God, youse would talk about football non-stop. I’m really sorry to tell you this but he is a Chelsea fan but he’s got lots of other good qualities, I promise.”

She also reveals plans to honour her grandad if she has a son in the future by including ‘David’ in his name. This follows her recent documentary Vicky Pattison: Maybe, Baby? which explored her fertility journey with Ercan.

“Hopefully he might grow up to be like you”, Vicky said. In a final message to the “man who meant the world” to her, Vicky said: “I love you and I miss you” before tearfully ending the call.

The video appears as part of Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal, which runs throughout June to help fund life-changing support and ground-breaking dementia research. Donate and wear your Forget Me Note badge to help beat dementia alzheimers.org.uk/forgetmenotappeal.
