Ten years after the fact, Cara Delevingne confirmed that she and Amber Heard were once “entangled,” but only after Heard split from Johnny Depp. Delevingne opened up about her relationship with Heard on The Louis Theroux Podcast after the documentarian asked if they were “going to mention the Johnny Depp thing.”
Theroux suggested that Depp was “driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you,” seemingly repeating a rumor that came up during 2020 depositions connected to Depp’s defamation suit against Heard.
“It’s because we did a movie together, and it was called London Fields,” Delevingne responded, referring to the 2018 film that stars Heard and Delevingne and features a cameo from Depp. “He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.” Heard filed for divorce in 2016, and that summer, she and Delevingne were often spotted hanging out. After Theroux explained what an “entanglement” is, Delevingne felt comfortable using the word to describe her romantic relationship with Heard.
“We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce — yeah, we were entangled, I suppose,” Delevingne said. “But she was also entangled with other people.”
“Well, with Elon [Musk],” Theroux replied. “There you go,” Delevingne said.
Heard and Musk dated for a year starting in the summer of 2016. In 2020, as part of Depp’s defamation case against Heard, a man named Josh Drew (the ex-husband of one of Heard’s friends) claimed in a deposition that Heard, Delevingne, and Musk were having a “three-way affair” while Heard was still married. Musk denied the allegation, saying that he and Delevingne had “never been intimate” and that he didn’t start seeing Heard until after her divorce.
Since Depp and Heard’s widely publicized 2022 trial, where a jury found her liable for defamation for writing about an unnamed abusive ex in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed, Heard has been lying low. She stopped acting, moved to Spain, and now has three children: Oonagh, 5, and twins Agnes and Ocean, 1. Delevingne, meanwhile, told Theroux that her current relationship with the musician Minke is “the first time I’ve ever really been in love.”
