Wimbledon has begun, which means it’s officially the season of strawberries and cream, tennis whites and (hopefully!) some summer sunshine. Each year, The Championships see a starry line-up of celebrities and even royal family members taking to the stands. This week, Sir David Beckham took his seat to watch the action in Centre Court, bringing his mum, Sandra as his date.
The mother-son duo arrived at Wimbledon on Monday (29 June) together for a sunny day out at the tennis. The pair were snapped clapping and smiling as they enjoyed the game, and there was one fellow guest the pair appeared to be particularly getting along with – Dame Mary Berry. Both Sir David and Dame Mary are favourites of the Royal Family, frequently supporting various members with important projects and both receiving titles.

Sitting in the front of the stands, the trio could be seen chatting and laughing together, as they shared jokes. For the occasion, Sir David and mum Sandra went for smart blazers, with David in double-breasted suit and burnt orange tie, while Sandra looked lovely in a teal suit of her own.
Dame Mary, on the other hand, took a leaf out of the Princess of Wales’ fashion playbook with subtle polka dots (a favourite print of Kate’s), wearing the Lucie gown by Holland Cooper. She also had a family day out at Wimbledon, arriving with her daughter, Annabel Bosher, who was also wearing polka dots.

While there have been a number of familiar faces attending The Championships so far, the Princess of Wales is yet to make an appearance. She usually waits until later in the tournament, and also has a leading role, as she presents the final trophies. In previous years, she’s attended with Prince William, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, but Prince Louis – being the youngest – hasn’t attended before, although it may be he’s now considered old enough to join.

Katherine Jenkins, far left, and Alexander Armstrong, right behind Dame Mary.
Despite the lack of royals, it was a star-studded scene where Sir David, Sandra and Dame Mary were sitting. Comedian and actor Alexandra Armstrong was positioned on the row behind, as was singer Katherine Jenkins. Katherine also chose spots for the day, sticking to tennis white with a pop of bright blue for the print.
