Earlier this year, we highlighted the incredible work of Quebec-based artist and Ghostbusters fan Jean-Filip Boisclair, who took on a life-size recreation of the original Ghostbusters Library Ghost. Today, Boisclair has shared an updated look at the project, showcasing just how far it’s come.

Among the latest additions are a nearly finished, screen-accurate purple dress, motorized head and arm movements that bring the animatronic to life, a translucent floating library book, and a hidden speaker system. According to Boisclair, he’s currently putting the finishing touches on the base, including concealing the fans that create the ghostly flowing effect.

Even in its current state, the improvements make the build look as though it walked… or rather, floated straight off the screen and out of the basement of the New York Public Library, paying tribute to Eleanor Twitty, better known to fans as the Grey Lady.

As we noted when first featuring the project, Boisclair, a professional luthier and artist, began the build using behind-the-scenes reference material, starting with a 3D-printed facial base modeled after actress Ruth Hale Oliver before combining hand-sculpted clay, epoxy, foam, and resin details to recreate her likeness.

Alongside the librarian’s human appearance, Boisclair is also recreating her terrifying monstrous form, complete with exaggerated facial features inspired by the unforgettable on-screen transformation. You can check out a sneak preview of that sculpt below.

Once completed, the Library Ghost is expected to join Boisclair’s growing collection of Ghostbusters props and displays at conventions within Quebec. And of course, when it’s finished, you can expect another follow-up right here on Ghostbusters News.
