Lucasfilm has announced that, as part of their plans to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Star Wars franchise, they will be launching the Star Wars: The Experience – A Journey Throughout The Galaxy touring museum beginning February 13, 2027 as it travels across the United States over the course of five years.

Announced on the official Star Wars website, Star Wars: The Experience – A Journey Through the Galaxy will feature “the most comprehensive behind-the-scenes exhibition” of over 70 costumes, props, and other memorabilia spanning five decades of the franchise, from the 1977 original to the release of Starfighter, which will release during the museum’s tour. Many of these artifacts from the movies and Disney Plus series will be on display for the first time ever in an 18,000 square foot exhibit. Aside from props, there will also be “an RFID-powered experience for an interactive, personalized, and cinematic journey into the creative force behind [the galaxy far, far away]”.

The five-year tour will begin at The Franklin Institute in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania on February 13, 2027; The Franklin Institute is collaborating with Lucasfilm, Industrial Light and Magic, MDSX, Disney Consumer Products, and other parties to make an unforgettable experience for all who visit. At this time, how long the exhibit will stay at The Franklin Institute has not been revealed. What locations the tour will visit in the United States have also not been revealed, nor are there any indications of an international tour for the museum at this time. There will also be displays tied to the technical side of the franchise, and elements tied to other portions of the franchise like video games and fan tributes. Larry Dubinski, President and CEO of The Franklin Institute, issued the following statement about the announcement:

“Star Wars created a cultural landscape that spans decades and delivers massive, undeniable global appeal. Its influence extends far beyond cinema — shaping entertainment, culture, technology, and business, while redefining how stories are created, experienced, and shared across generations. The Franklin Institute is excited to put Philadelphia once again at the center of a major cultural moment with another blockbuster world premiere exhibition in 2027.”
