Luke Wilson has been an actor in the industry for many decades now, but a new title has just caught the world by surprise.
According to a new report from People, the 54-year-old actor recently welcomed his first baby with his much-younger girlfriend, Kendall Yates, 24. Per the outlet, the couple, who have been dating for at least the past three years and have a 30-year age gap between them, are proud new parents of a baby girl.
The news comes shortly after the couple and their newborn daughter attended a press reception for Wilson’s upcoming Netflix comedy series, The Hawk, on July 7, 2026. The press reception took place at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California.

Wilson and Yates, who reportedly kept their little one in a carrier, arrived at the event just after 5 pm and left together before the event wrapped at 7 pm. During their time, they even introduced their new bundle of joy to guests and Wilson’s castmates, like Jimmy Tatro.
While they’ve kept their relationship out of the public eye for the most part, Wilson and Yates made their public debut at the June 2024 premiere party for Horizon: An American Saga.

Prior to that, Wilson had been candid about wanting to become a father. In fact, in a 2020 episode of Conan O’Brien’s late-night show, Wilson talked about how his bond with his nieces and nephews had increased that desire.
“I think I am a fun uncle,” he said, per Us Weekly. “I get along great with [their kids]; they are really fun kids. I mean, during this pandemic, I did have a Shining-type moment with Owen’s son Ford, where I was saying, ‘You know I love you, Don’t you, Ford? You’re a good boy.’”
“I get along great with those guys, they’re great little kids and definitely the kind that make me want to have some kids of my own, which I should get on sooner rather than later,” he added.
While Owen Wilson is a dad to three kids, Robert Ford, born in 2011, Finn, born in 2014, and Lyla, born in 2018, Andrew Wilson reportedly only has one child, a son named Joey.

A day before Wilson and Yates’ outing with the baby, the actor also made headlines after being stuck in an elevator for half an hour at the 30th anniversary of his 1996 movie, Bottle Rocket, per People. Wilson was stuck in the elevator at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures alongside James L. Brooks‘ and the movie’s legendary director, Wes Anderson. They were all rescued by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Carolyn Dunn, a production specialist for 20th Century Fox, shared a video on Instagram showing the three of them emerging from the elevator after firefighters opened the doors. In the clip, The Grand Budapest Hotel director asks members of the LAFD what caused the malfunction.
“Probably had too much weight in there,” one official responded, to which Anderson replied, “Okay, thank you very much.”
Between becoming a dad for the first time and having a crisis with your former director, this has certainly been a memorable week for Wilson!
