Prince Harry just reunited with King Charles in England—and took his kids, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, to meet him for the first time in years. But apparently Prince William fully avoided Harry’s recent visit and had literally nothing to do with him.

“It’s so broken,” a source tells People of the estranged brothers’ relationship, while another adds, “I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest. But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side. There is no contact.”

Royal experts also weighed in, with author Simon Vigar saying, “[Princess] Diana would be devastated that it has turned out like this, particularly because [the brothers] were once so close,” and historian Robert Lacey explaining, “The rift is very profound and very long-lasting. It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes.”

As for Harry’s reunion with Charles, it took place amid a lot of behind-the-scenes drama over his stay at Buckingham Palace (he was initially offered a room, but then it was revoked). Author Russell Myers tells People, “There were U-turns and backtracks, and it will have all added to the complete exasperation of the King and his aides when dealing with Harry.” He added, “What was billed as a big homecoming—not only for Harry but potentially for Meghan too—turned into a nightmare. It was further evidence of the fractiousness of Harry’s relationship with the institution.”
