This week, 76-year-old Richard Gere was photographed filming a romantic scene with 28-year-old Diana Silvers for their upcoming movie, Asymmetry. Gere (whose wife is 43) has been the quintessential romantic lead for basically his entire career, but what exactly is the deal with this movie?

Asymmetry, based on Lisa Halliday’s novel of the same name, is about a secret romance between editorial assistant Alice (Silvers) and celebrated 70-year-old author Ezra (Gere) that sparks after a chance encounter in Central Park. Per the logline, “Ezra, famous for his audacious work, finds someone with whom he can be openly vulnerable, and Alice finds the courage to explore her own aspirations as a writer. Until it is all put at risk when their secret relationship is exposed.” Which sounds … sticky.

In the set photos, Silvers and Gere walk hand in hand around New York City and at one point look like they’re about to kiss. Of course, some of the stills do look more like a commercial for a Place for Mom than a romantic drama — even with someone as extraordinarily handsome as Richard Gere in the lead.
