Jennifer Garner has shared rare praise for her former husband Ben Affleck, offering insight into how their relationship has developed since their divorce.
The actress described Affleck as an “incredible” co-parent and said his dedication to their three children has helped her balance family life with her successful acting career.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Garner reflected on the challenges of raising a family while continuing to work in Hollywood.
She admitted that there was a period when motherhood became her main focus, explaining that she “absolutely” became caught up in being present for her children when they were younger.
Garner and Affleck share daughters Violet, 20, and Fin, 17, along with son Samuel, 14. The actress explained that their family routine has changed as their children have grown older, especially now that they are in their teenage years.
While she previously avoided being away from them for long periods, she now feels more comfortable taking on projects because she knows they are in good hands with their father.
A supportive partnership after divorce
Garner praised Affleck for the role he continues to play in their children’s lives, saying he has become a wonderful co-parent who takes care of their family. She described his support as “very freeing,” allowing her to pursue work while knowing their children have a reliable and loving parent beside her.
“He’s wonderful. He takes care of them. He’s a great partner in that way. And that’s very freeing,” said Garner.
The former couple married in 2005 after reconnecting following their first meeting on the set of Pearl Harbor in 2001. They announced their separation in 2015 after 10 years of marriage, and their divorce was finalized in 2018.
At the time, they said they were committed to moving forward with love and friendship while focusing on co-parenting their children.
Over the years, Garner and Affleck have maintained a noticeably respectful relationship. They have been spotted together during family outings, holidays and important moments involving their children.
Their approach has often been viewed as an example of how separated parents can continue working together for the benefit of their family.
Garner also previously showed her appreciation for Affleck’s role as a father in a heartfelt Father’s Day message. She shared photos of the actor with their children and wrote about how happy she was to see the bond they share, describing the love between a parent and child as a special gift.
Affleck has also spoken positively about maintaining strong family connections. After his marriage to Jennifer Lopez ended in 2024, he praised Lopez for being supportive of his children and said he was grateful for the relationship she built with them.
