Even though today’s FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina remained scoreless through regulation, the star-studded halftime show delivered plenty of electric action on the MetLife Stadium pitch. Headlined by Madonna, BTS, Justin Bieber, and Shakira—alongside cameos from Burna Boy, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, the Muppets, the New York Philharmonic, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo Nazário, a children’s choir, and probably a few other folks we’re forgetting—the 11-minute performance was packed with enough star power to fill a Coachella lineup. And as per usual, former GQ cover stars BTS and Bieber came correct in the global-stage-worthy menswear department.
The Bangtan Boys stayed on theme for the occasion—not only did they put a soccer-ified spin on the lyrics of their 2020 hit “Dynamite,” but all seven members were decked out in sporty custom ensembles in red (the primary color of the band’s massive Arirang era), black, and white. Jungkook and V both rocked leather racing jackets that looked straight out of an F1 paddock; RM and Jin zipped up slick contrasting tracksuits; and Suga, Jimin, and J-Hope all donned punkish BTS football kits.

Meanwhile, Bieber kept things lower key, performing an acoustic version of his Swag II number “Everything’s Hallelujah” in a look from his clothing label Skylrk: a chopped-up green tee over a baggy white polo shirt, a pair of long raw denim jorts, and the brand’s just-released Matter Daddy torpedo sneakers with bunched-up chunky white socks. Though he looked as effortlessly cool as ever, the ensemble was a typically counterintuitive turn from the Canadian singer, who popped up several times earlier this week in far more footy-coded looks.
