King Charles makes historic visit to Europe’s first eco-mosque
King Charles highlighted his long-standing commitment to sustainability and interfaith engagement during a visit to Cambridge.
The monarch toured Europe’s first eco-mosque before officially opening a pioneering research laboratory.
The official Instagram handle of the British royal family posted a carousel of photos from the visit. In the caption, the palace wrote, “In Cambridge today, The King visited Europe’s first Eco-Mosque.”
Adding, “Cambridge Central Mosque is notable for its architectural quality, environmental leadership and role as a place of worship and community engagement.”
“The sustainability-focussed mosque combines its design, energy-efficient systems and renewable energy generation to significantly reduce carbon emissions,” the caption read further.
King Charles also opened the “New Whittle Laboratory, an aerospace and energy laboratory based at the University of Cambridge.”
“The @SustainableMarketsInitiative has a partnership with the Laboratory, reflecting a shared ambition to translate breakthrough innovation into real-world deployment,” it concluded.
Photos showed King Charles warmly greeting children and community members inside the mosque.
