Certain sales have me adding to cart more than I probably should. Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is one. The exclusive beauty deals are some of the most anticipated because — from discounts on coveted skin-care sets like the La Mer Treatment Lotion I always restock to other everyday staples including my favorite Kiehl’s lotion and luxury products — they’re rare and a great value. If you’re extremely type A like me, maybe you’re refreshing your beauty routine or taking Christmas in July literally and starting your holiday shopping six months in advance. Some of these deals are too good to pass up. The list below will help you shop like a beauty editor: smart luxury investments, cult classics, and thinking beyond summer.
If there’s one category I’m going to spend on, it’s body care. There’s no better feeling to me than someone saying my skin is soft and glowy. While I test a lot, there are some products I’ll always restock no matter what else hits the market — like Osea’s body oil. I’m sure I’ve gone through more than 25 bottles, and I’m loyal for a reason. Nordstrom’s beauty director, Autumne West, loves the Osea trio just as much. “It’s the kind of set that quietly becomes your whole routine,” she tells The Cut. Other body-care steals include Donna Karan’s cult-classic deodorant trio, a luxury Byredo set (I always stock up on Mojave Ghost), The Cut’s favorite Nécessaire Body Wash, and a set of Augustinus Bader Body Cream (the one I trust to eliminate marks on my skin). Most of these are sets but are worth it because you’ll be using these products daily.

I have restocked my skin-care products over and over after using them to the last drop, so I know which brands and formulas I trust. A lot of them have a luxury price tag, so I use sales like this one to splurge on serums like Eighth Day’s medical-grade Regenerative Serum and Dr. Diamond’s Metacine skin-strengthening formula.
There’s also a lot of cult-classic skin care, like Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum (a staple Nia Long can’t live without) and Dr. Dennis Gross pads, the exfoliator celebrities like Ciara Miller keep in stock.

The set I always buy during this sale is Charlotte Tilbury’s setting spray, a tried-and-true classic for keeping makeup in place all day.
Some of my favorites are already sold out — like Therabody’s TheraFace Depuffing Wand, which West calls “jet-lag insurance for your face.” But other tools are still available, such as the TheraFace LED mask for healthier skin, a sauna blanket for the days you don’t want to head to the gym (I also use it to sweat out colds in the winter), and a foot massager, the one gift I’ll be buying and holding on to until the holidays because I know my mom will love it.
The fragrances we already know and love are exclusively on sale, and most are available in sets — like our favorite Parfums de Marly scents that transition us from summer to fall or Phlur’s popular Vanilla Skin, a creamy vanilla that’s equally captivating and cozy. West, like most of the internet, is really into fragrance layering right now and loves discovery sets like Le Labo’s to play around with. “It’s the easiest way to figure out your signature scent,” she says, “or land on five.” Other sets include full- and travel-size fragrances, so the deal feels like a two-for-one.
